About Pat

Whether serving his country as a Marine or representing his neighbors on the Baltimore County Council, Pat Young has dedicated his life to serving the community he loves.

Born and raised in Catonsville, Pat has called Baltimore County home for most of his life. A proud graduate of local schools, including Woodbridge Elementary, Sudbrook Magnet Middle, and Mt. St. Joseph High School, Pat’s education shaped his appreciation for diverse perspectives and his commitment to making informed, empathetic decisions.

After high school, Pat answered the call to serve, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. From 2001 to 2005, he served in the infantry with the 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, completing two combat tours in Iraq and a humanitarian mission in Liberia. For his leadership during the Battle of Fallujah, he earned a combat promotion to the rank of corporal.

When his military service concluded, Pat returned home and pursued higher education at Towson University, where he earned degrees in Political Science, Religious Studies, and Philosophy. As a student, he founded the Student Veterans Group and fought to expand support for returning military students, a passion that carried over to his professional life when he became Towson’s first Director of Veterans Services.

Pat continued his commitment to service as a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2022, where he took on leadership roles like Deputy Majority Whip and Chair of the Joint Committee on the Management of Public Funds. In December 2022, Pat brought his experience and dedication to the Baltimore County Council, representing District 1.

Whether advocating for veterans, championing equitable policy, or strengthening local communities, Pat’s work reflects his belief in the power of public service to create meaningful change.
